We spent two days during the holiday break making decorations for the cake and table together. We picked up some plastic animal dolls at the Euro store and painted them, adding pom-poms to make them look even more festive. It was a fun and easy project that kept us busy for a couple of days and gave my daughter a sense of accomplishment.
We also practiced smart consumerism by buying gifts on Black Friday for almost half the price of the regular price and storing them in the closet until the big day. It's all about being smart with your money and being creative with what you have.
But perhaps the star of the show was the cake - a stunning five-layer pistachio cake with pistachio cream and embedded crispy pistachio cookies. We made it ourselves, proving that a beautiful cake doesn't have to sacrifice taste for looks or be super expansive.
In the end, our little girl's birthday was a huge success and we all had a blast celebrating together. It may not have been the biggest or most extravagant party, but it was filled with love, joy, and the satisfaction of a job well done.
